I have seen everyone writing their “I’m thankful for…” lists here in blogland and on Facebook all month long and I’m thinking it’s about time I wrote mine. This has been a busy month for me and I am feeling very disconnected…especially this past week. Hopefully this post will get me back on track.
I am thankful for my family. I love my family just as it is. We are not your traditional family and we have seen our share of loss but through it all we are always there for one another. I can honestly say that I have gone days, weeks, maybe even a whole month without seeing or talking to any of them but when I do it’s like we were never apart. I love them for that.
I am thankful for my puppy Sophie. I guess she’s not really a puppy anymore but who cares. She will always be my baby puppy girl. I love when I come home and she is sooooo excited to see me. I even love her when she tears up stuff. Maybe not when she tore up my sister’s brand new $300 wooden blinds but I still loved her after. (Ask me again when I write that check.)
I am thankful for my job(s). I have two of the best jobs EVER!! I work full time at one hospital and prn at another. I work with the BEST people and I can truly say that I love what I do. In a time when people have a tough time finding a job I realize that I am truly blessed to have 2.
I am thankful for a roof over my head and food in my fridge. This goes back to I am thankful for my jobs because without them I could not afford my own home and food on my table.
I am thankful for my friends. I have always said that I value my relationship with my friends right up there with my relationship with my family and it’s true. I think that your friends are the family you pick for yourself and I have some good ones.
I am thankful for this blog and all of the wonderful people I have met because of it. I have been truly blessed to meet some extraordinary people on here and you have each inspired me in some way,
I am thankful for my iPhone. Cheesy, I know but it’s true. What did we ever do before cell phones, much less smart phones?! I shudder at the thought…
I am thankful for my health. I have always been healthy and I plan on keeping it that way. I think one of my resolutions for this coming year (and I HATE making resolutions) will be to take better care of my body. I always say I am going to lose weight or eat better but this year I am just going to say that I am going to take better care of myself and try to stay as healthy as possible. I realize that so many people are sick and battling illness and I know that I take for granted that I am healthy. Not anymore.
I am thankful to God above for putting me on this planet and giving me the life I have. It hasn’t always been easy to say that but I am truly thankful for my life. It could be sooooo much worse and I think I’m pretty blessed these days.
If you have made it this far, congratulations! I’m sorry this post got so long but I truly do have a lot to be thankful for this year. I’m sure I left out a lot but this is what comes to mind right now.
Happy Thanksgiving.
