Monogram Canvas Tutorial

This post contains affiliate links.

Have you ever seen a project on Pinterest and thought “I can do that!” and it usually turns out nothing like the picture?? This happens to me all the time but this monogram canvas project was actually easy!! And I just used stuff I already had around the house so that makes it even better.

And no, before you ask, I don’t normally have big vinyl monogram decals laying around my house. I bought that last year for something and never used it. OOPS!

So lets get started…

For this project you need a blank canvas (you can get those at Hobby Lobby or Michaels), any kind of vinyl monogram or letters, two different colors of paint, and foam brushes (I like those better for painting on canvas).

First I painted my canvas with my lime green paint. This step does not have to be perfect because you will be painting over it!

After that paint dried I put my decal on.

Next, I painted over my decal with purple paint. You can be as neat or as sloppy as you want with this step. I went sloppy because I like seeing the green through the purple. Sort of shabby chic if you will!

Then I very carefully pulled the decal off and it was done!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this!! It’s super easy, doesn’t take too long, and it’s cute!! You could do these for yourself or for a gift…the possibilities are endless!! And if I didn’t jack it up you probably won’t either!

Happy Sunday!!

Oh my gosh SO cute! I have a couple small decals coming my way soooo I’m thinking maybe I can make a small one when they finally get here! I absolutely love the color combo too- I’ll be honest, I wasn’t sure if I would with the green BUT I LOVE the way the green pops and the hint of the green through the purple- def. shabby chic!
