Ok, so this week has been pretty eventful. I had my 3 week post-op visit with my surgeon and I had the unfortunate experience of having what I now refer to as “The Great Hair Disaster of 2010.”
On the surgical front, my surgeon said everything is going pretty perfect!! I was concerned because I was still having some pain on my left side that was a sharp stabbing pain which changed to a dull aching pain and by the time I got to the Dr it was just numb…so I was pretty freaked out! But he assured me this was totally normal because apparently my left side was so much bigger than the right that he had to take a lot more out and put a ton of internal stitches in so pain was to be expected. His only instructions were to take it easy for a couple days and come back in 6 weeks!! That’s pretty awesome!!
So for the past couple days I have done nothing but lounge on the couch and catch up on my tv. Let me tell you, I am bored out of my skull!! I actually wish I could go back to work but I really want to be off work for Christmas so I’m going to suck it up and stay home. What a problem to have…LOL!
All of this staying cooped up in my house in the heat has done a number on my hair! I know in my last post I was complaining about my super dry skin but now I’m complaining about my super dry hair. My hair is pretty wavy/curly so I straighten it everyday. I wash it everyday also because it gets oily on day #2…plus it straightens better after I wash and dry it straight.
As you can imagine my hair is probably not in the best shape anyway from all of the washing, drying, and straightening. Well, the other day after I washed it it was just gummy feeling. I thought I didn’t get all of the conditioner out so I re-rinsed it in the sink and it still felt that way. Then it got super staticy and so I knew it was dry. I got a Pantene moisturizing mask and used that the next day and my hair turned to straw!! But like super gummy straw!! It wouldn’t dry after 30 minutes of blow drying it and even after re-washing it nothing changed!! I was freaking out!! Even after all that I do to my hair on a daily basis it always turns out silky and smooth and pretty!! So, my solution to this mess was to wash the whole mess in baking soda TWICE, once that night and once the next day, and let it air dry both times. Then, I got this great new ultra-moisturizing conditioner (Garnier Triple Moisturizing 3-Minute Undo) and it’s shampoo and did that after the second baking soda wash and then did nothing to it for two days and finally washed it like normal today and it’s back to normal!!! Hallelujah! I have never had my hair react to something so badly before. Anyway, I’m glad it’s back to normal and I will never use a Pantene mask on my hair again!!!
Well, I guess that’s all I have for now. Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!
